I took the NCLEX RN yesterday and I am A NERVOUS WRECK!!!! It stopped at 75 questions. When the computer cut off, I wanted to throw the monitor!!:angthts: All I could think was "NOOOOO!!! I failed!! Why not just one more question to let me prove myself!! I know I can do it if you just give me one more!!!"

So, I came home, and began to research about the scores. I have heard a lot of things about getting only 75 Q's....either you did really good....or really bad! But now, I want to know something else:

?? Does the topics and content of your test have any bearing? I know that they go from easier to harder and mine did, but I DIDN'T get a wide of variety of Q's.

They consisted of:

15-20 SATA's

5-8 med SE Q's

3-4 Psych

10-15 Infection Control

5-8 Delegation/Priority

15-20 URI Q's

They seemed SO hard...right from the start!! The 2nd Q. was a SATA, then about Q. 20, there were 2 back to back, then about every 3-4 Q. was a SATA. The content contained mainly Infection Control and URI (like RSV, Bronchliolitis, TB, Pneumonia). Even the SATA's were about Infection and URI. There were NO math probs., no peds questions, maybe 1 patho of a disease.

I hated the content they gave me and I DID NOT feel confident AT ALL!!!! I feel like I guessed on about 55-60 of the questions. I even had 2 of the same questions...2 SATA's that were EXACTLY the same question! That can't be a good sign! :stone

I am SO SCARED!! I haven't eaten in almost 2 days, all I want to do is cry and sleep, then wake up and cry myself back to sleep! And MS doesn't offer Quick Results, I have to wait 7-10 days for my letter!

PLZ, any advice, encouragement, anything might help! I don't care if I failed, b/c I can take it again...but I don't want to have to tell my parents that I failed. They paid for my school and NCLEX out of pocket, and I SO don't want to let them down!! :urgycld: :plsebeg:

You probably passed. Did you try the pearsonvue trick? this may help alleviate some anxiety. The questions you got sound to be high level questions and so you may have passed. Remember 15 questions don't count against you as they are pilot questions. Think positive and try the pearsonvue trick.

Hey, I think you and I had basically the same test! I took mine today. (see my post, you'll find some reassuring answers)

The more I think about it the more I feel ok. All of my friends (4 who are RN's) had their test cut off at 75 q's and they all passed first time. I'm gonna try that pearsonvue trick thing and see if it works...

OH and I got that RSV question and I was like WTH???!!

I didn't have a single thing about RSV in EITHER of my NCLEX prep books, in fact, not even in my notes from school. I felt like most of the topics on the test today were not covered in school. What is your school's passing standard? Our program head said that 90% from our school passed first time and 100% passed the second time.

I tested Fri. morning and I have to wait till until Tuesday for results. YIKES!! I cannot try the "Trick" you speak of because I cannot remember the user name I created to register for the test. I cannot retreive it without calling customer service and it is not open until Mon. No wonder Pearl Harbor occurred on a Sun. The world is sleeping!!! LOL I took 75 ?s and what scares the crap out of me is that I was perking along and all of a sudden at the end I was bombarded with med/pharm questions that I did not know. Like 7 of the last 10. That has me scared. Oh, and this was new to me, a retrograde cholangiopancreatography. How I do not want to retake this test!!!!!!

I'll bet that was a "test" test question. They have up to 15 on each test, questions that they are trying out for future tests. I got several on things I wasn't taught in school so I'm hoping thats what those were too...

:yeah:Big HOORAY!!!!!!!! Received my license in the mail. I am awful old to be a new RN (56) but will give it my best shot! The "trick" worked for me. Good luck to everyone and study hard. My suggestion is to do Kaplan questions until you are crosseyed.

They read exactly like the questions on the real test.

I had two RSV questions on my test as well. Also one on polycyto...I can't even spell the rest of it because it was such a long word. Never even heard of it.

The only thing I'd really remembered about RSV is that it is common in preemies.

I remember I saw some information about RSV in the Q&A Saunders book.I think this virus requires contact and droplet precautions.
