I did not take inorganic chemistry (CHEM1152). Does this influence my study of A&P(I)? If does, how much? and Why?

I took a chemistry class that had orgranic chem in it, but not the sole focus, so I only have a few weeks worth of it. I am taking physiology right now and doing fine w/ what little O chem I have. I am half way through and maintaining an A. I guess I will have to see if this will continue to be the case for the second half of the class.

My state doesn't require organic Chem, and I have already taken A&P I and passed it. All I can tell you is study like crazy and find a study group.

I had only taken Chemistry 101 when I had A&P and didn't find it to be a problem. I did have to spend some extra time reviewing a few aspects but passed the class with an A. Good luck!

My school requires you to take chemistry before taking A&P. It was just basic chemistry and really hard I thought because I hate chemistry. it really didn't help much with A&P except for the little bit of chemistry in A&P1, but you get taught it over again when going over it. Good thing because I took the chemistry like 7 years ago and don't remember much. Good luck!

I would say taking an organic chemistry class would help. Of course you have to take regular chemistry before you can take organic but I found it really helpful. You can pass Anatomy and Physiology without it but I felt that I didn't run into as many problems understanding the chemistry based concepts as those who had no chemistry background. I also found it really helpful for Microbiology as well. Organic Chemistry usually can be taken as a combined course with Biochem. You learn a lot about bonding properties, carbohydrates and proteins, as well as metabolism of glucose. I started off as a chemistry major and then switched to nursing. I know some people don't really enjoy chemistry so of course I'm being a little bias when I say you should take the course. But you can still pass Anatomy and Physiology without it.

I didn't take chemistry before A&P I (still haven't and I'm in A&P II) and I had no problems. We also didn't do much of the chemistry aspect..so that may be why! Just study hard..and you should be fine.

I got a B+ in A&P I and have an A average in A&P II. I take Organic Chemistry summer session 2 so we'll see how THAT goes! ;-)

I just finished A&P 1. I stink at Chemistry, and there was only a small part at the beginning of the semester that had any chemistry in it. Somehow, I did really well on it.

At my school, we had to take BIOL I & II before A&P, but CHEM wasn't a prereq. I would suggest taking a digital camera with you to your lab. Place a pin and label in the target you need to learn (organs, muscles, and circulation of animal cadaver you are using) and use your camera to get a good pic. Download or print these out to study when you can't get to the lab and expect to do better on your lab practical. Hope this helps!

most nursing programs dont require organic chemistry. At least mine does not and I took AnP and I was fine
