I am trying to look at the use of Clinisan Emollient Skin Cleansing Foam, and was wondering if anyone else used this, and had ever come across an allergic reaction, All I can find on the net is the companies page, which is a good advert but not that helpfull.

Does anyone know if it is available on prescription?

hiya whisper we use the stuff by the buckets (or should i say tins)

we use it on patients with eczema, and it hasnt made any one react yet. it is so usefull, cos u spray it on and wipe it off. being in paeds its so good for the children with learning disabilities who still wear nappies and have very large bowel movements

no bowl no water just spray and wipe!!!

We trialed (sp?) it at work, I work with adults with complex learning disabilities. Although we didnt have any allergic reactions as such we did have to stop using it as it caused respiritory reactions in our clients with chest problems.

I have used it before, and was trying to explain what it is to my mentor (a DN) and she asked me to try and get some info, I researched some of the websites but couldn't find any problems, but I thought there might be some out there.

could u expand on the prolems, u have got me worried as our patients come in for spinal bracing. so if this causes resp problems it would be nice to know

We had 3 seperate clients who were affected by it. All ended up with asthmatic type symtoms after we started to use it with them, one lady did suffer from asthma but it was usually triggered by dust/pet hairs ect, we werent even sure that the cilnician was the cause. All the clients involved had severe physical disabilities, scoliosis, and were immobile which didnt give them great respiratory health at times anyway. All the symptoms did go away after we stopped using the clinician so we never used it again. Our trust decided it was too expensive in the end anyway so we never got a chance to try it again.

I work in Neuro Critical Care, we use it extensively as most of our patients develop faecal incontinence. It's used throughout our 1300 bedded hospital and is invaluable in containing anal excoriation. Seems to disseminate faecal soiling with less friction.

Also makes a great shaving foam in times of need!!
