I live in Maryland Hts and I will be a new student at Lutheran School Nursing beginning Spring 2009 semester. I am a nontraditional student (older with one degree in another field). Just wanted to say hello.:heartbeat:heartbeat

I graduated from there. Good program. You have to stay on top of things since it does go pretty fast. You will be studying quite a bit and writing a lot of papers. But, don't let that scare you. It can be done. THe instructors are very supportive and they want to see you excel. Just ask for help if you need it. During your rotations, you will be quite busy. So, get enough sleep and save fun time for when you are on break. I had no problem getting a job fresh out of school. I feel that I was well prepared for entry level nursing. I hit the ground running. Good luck and stay focused.

Hello! I am a current student at LSN. And mamason is 100% right, very fast, not much sleep and kick your butt program, BUT that just makes us better nurses in the end, right?! LOL

Jess, Do you like LSN? Was it a long waiting list to get accepted? Is it a monday thru friday 8-4 program? I am an lpn, contemplating on doing the bridge program there. What is your first-hand intake on the school/bridge students/clinicals/etc? Thank You for all you help....

Yes I do like LSN. Class hours vary. Like Monday 8-12, Tuesday 8-2 and Wednesday 8-2 and my clinicals are Thur & Fri 7-3:30. Some days you'll come in later and some days let out earlier, it isn't "set". From what I've heard bridge students do very well. They bridge in at NR120 and go from there with the rest of the class, plus I believe there is a NR115 or NR125 LPN class they take too. Clinicals have been great, last week I was sent to OR and I really enjoyed that experience. You'll have instructors that are more "hands on" and others who are more into paperwork, so you get a variety in what you are being told to focus on.

Hi. One of my best friends bridged over from LPN. I met her second year. She did very well. The only thing she had difficulty with was writing one of those never ending clinical case reports. I'm not sure if they still do that. But, as far as the material and clinicals, she excelled and her experience as an LPN helped her a lot. She liked the program very much. Once she graduated, she took a job as a charge nurse. Actually, my charge nurse. HA! She has now moved onto a day position in the ICU and is doing wonderfully.

It takes me usually 4-6 hours to do my clinical paperwork, per week, every week. I get my patient on Wed. get home around 4 and up till 11 or later doing my paperwork (in-between dinner, kids showers, kids in bed). Then Friday after the week is over I have another 2 hours finishing up. Some instructors are lax on paper work, some are not. Mine this rotation is not.

I am on the waiting list for this spring. i am very worried about how they handle paperwork. I have talked to other people who have applied and we have all hade issues with the school misplacing paperwork. have other people had the same problem?

Hi I started the program this Jan 09 and I really like it but make sure you are very organized in your paperwork for clinical and time management (my weak area and I am working on that) but in everyother area i am doing well..... I like all classmates and instructors

I have been accepted at Lutheran as well. Jan 2010. (also accepted to an accelerated BSN program but am not sure I could handle all as a mommy, too, w/20 month old.) I've felt very good about everything with Lutheran so far. Welcoming, accessible, etc. And I had no hesitation about getting my diploma & then getting my BSN while working later on. Just fel it might be more manageable. And a better intro to the clinical side.

However, with this d*mn economy, I now worry that I'll be much better able to get a job with a BSN. Any thoughts on this, guys? Thanks! I appreciate your honest advice.

O.K. I'm totally confused & bummed-out. I just got an email from the admissions lady at Lutheran telling me that the committee hasn't yet met to decide who would be admitted for Jan. 2010. I was worried about not being able to get my official transcripts to them (since I owe my old school money) so I emailed her and she just wrote back today not to worry since the committee probably won't meet till August and they would send out letters to the applicants telling them to get their transcripts in at that time. Does this sound right? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I have been accepted into the PRE-nursing @ Lutheran for Fall 2009 with the hope that with passing of two reqs, I'd start in the FT program in Jan 2010. So, not official. (I just feel like I'll make it if I pass those two pre-reqs.)
