  1. Thanks so much! Hope this isn't too much. You mentioned changing the class schedule. Is the school in transition? (I imagine it's growing, etc.) Do you feel prepared to take licensing exam? Do you feel prepared -- in a clinical manner -- to start working? Did you have good advisors to help with classes and/or prep you to begin your career? I have a toddler -- is there any time for a life outside class at all? :) !!! How do the clinicals work with classes? Can you tell me what areas you worked in -- and what control you had (say, choosing an area you may be specializing in?) Are the professors good? Thanks, again!
  2. Since it's been a while since this post began, can anyone now share experience(s) regarding the BJC Accelerated BSN program? I am set to begin Sept '10 after completing prereqs at St Louis Comm College. Age group of classmates... How classes are structured... Anything is welcome! (I don't think I've posted enough to be able to privately email anyone...)
  3. I'm taking Intro/bio this summer with St Louis Comm. College. (Need it since it's a prereq to Anatomy & Microbiology.) I may take an online course next semester. Perhaps Psych. Good luck!
  4. You guys can IM me if you have any more information. I don't think I can IM yet -- have not posted enough. Thanks, though! Sorry for the trouble.
  5. Thanks! Did you have any prereqs to complete -- and if so -- any tips on professors or locations? Good luck!
  6. I've been accepted into the Barnes Jewish Acceleratd BSN program for 2010 and wondered if anyone had feedback/advice/information they can share. I've read a lot here already -- but much is at least a year old -- and I assume the program has made significant changes, etc., since then. Thanks in advance! T
  7. For FP, you guys mean St Louis Comm College at Forest Park, right? (I'm still on a learning curve...having only lived here since Sept.) Thanks!
  8. Marie: They also have a BS completion program that you could apply for, I think. Check out the website. It's pretty comprehensive. Good luck! Tracy
  9. Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it! Saymo82, if you can remember your professor for Growth & Dev., let me know. (Just in case I have a lot of choices.) I think I'm going to defer my start date to Sept '10 from May. So I have plenty of time to actually attend classes vs rush/online. Though, I agree, I think I could handle psyc & nutrition online...& I may try...but no WAY for the science classes. No way! I haven't taken biology since high school. And to kinda answer Marie at the same time, I have a BA (Journalism) and an MA (Media Arts) -- neither of which required much beyond some "rocks for jocks" science classes. Astronomy! Environmental something or the other. So...not sure how Barnes decides to accept, etc., but my undergrad & grad were in no way a big "win" for this degree because all are liberal arts. If your GPA is good, I would think they'd seriously consider you. That's all I've heard. And, yes, you are accepted based on the assumption (and proof through transcripts) that you pass the prereqs. I hope I can pass microbiology & anatomy. :) Tracy
  10. Don't let anything I said confuse you. Or bum you out! I spoke a bit out of turn. I have been accepted into the PRE-nursing @ Lutheran for Fall 2009 with the hope that with passing of two reqs, I'd start in the FT program in Jan 2010. So, not official. (I just feel like I'll make it if I pass those two pre-reqs.) Sorry if I alarmed you! Tracy
  11. Thanks! Good luck to you, too. :wink2: I agree -- nutrition & pysh are opportunities for online perhaps. Tracy
  12. I have been accepted at Lutheran as well. Jan 2010. (also accepted to an accelerated BSN program but am not sure I could handle all as a mommy, too, w/20 month old.) I've felt very good about everything with Lutheran so far. Welcoming, accessible, etc. And I had no hesitation about getting my diploma & then getting my BSN while working later on. Just fel it might be more manageable. And a better intro to the clinical side. However, with this d*mn economy, I now worry that I'll be much better able to get a job with a BSN. Any thoughts on this, guys? Thanks! I appreciate your honest advice. T
  13. Hello, all! New to the forum. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. I'm set to start the Barnes-Jewish Accelerated BSN May/2010. I have prereqs to complete & would love some advice. Out of these, are any suited for an online class? I have been accepted at SLCC. I feel like I'll be more disciplined in the classroom, but due to time to complete these AND having a small child (21 months), a class or two online if it makes sense would be welcome. I have to take: -- Anatomy & P 1 & 2 -- General Psyc -- Human Growth -- Micro -- Intro Bio (because micro most everywhere requires) -- Nutrition Thanks, again! Hoping the BSN program has some older/non-trad students, too. I live close, so at least my commute is great. (I can walk to campus.) :) Tracy
