moving from illinois to ohio after school. advice needed!

Hey everyone!! I am going to be graduating May 2009 from a nursing program in Illinois (BSN-RN). I plan on moving into the Cincinnati area after graduation. Everytime I ask anyone about what I need to do to be licensed in Ohio instead of Illinois, I get random answers all over the board. One is that I can just take the NCLEX for Ohio. Someone else said to take it in Illinois, then apply for a license in Ohio. I really don't want to do that if I don't have to because I don't want to pay more money than needed (school has drained me). So any help with that would be appreciated. Also, I have some ideas of decent hospitals from reading some of these posts, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what hospitals or companies to definitely stay away from?? Thanks for any input!!!

Use the career link on this site to connect with the BON in Ohio. I know there is q toll free number, they will answer your questions. Good luck.

The NCLEX is a national exam, meaning if you take it in Illinois or Ohio, it will be the exact same exam. You will not need to take it again, just because you are moving. As far as licensing, you just need to apply for an Ohio license, instead of Illinois if you are sure you are moving here.

We have so many hospitals in the area that you can't puke without splattering one...lol

It all depends on what you want to do. A lot of hospitals will pay off your student loans if you sign a 2 year contract and many offer sign on bonuses.

Call the board of nursing to get specifics on applying for an

ohio license. The NCLEX is a one time deal...
