I am a Canadian graduate of a US nursing school, about to get a TN visa next month. The hospital that has hired me has little experience with foreign nurses and has given me a letter that they "think" is what is required at the border (along with my VisaScreen certificate).

They gave me the letter, a job description and a hospital brochure. The issue is, the letter looks VERY basic to me and I'm concerned that it doesn't have the detail required.

Can anyone point me to an online resource for TN visa letter formats for nurses? I've searched the archives here to no avail, and have found lots of formats for other occupations online, but none for nursing.

Oh boy, this is going to take some fancy footwork - the recruiter got very insulted when I questioned if the 3 sentence letter was going to cut it.

Actually the recruiter should be offended that they did not provide you with what is required, and it means that they had no idea in the beginning of anything having to do with the NAFTA TN Visa.

This is their responsibility to be aware of the requirements in the first place, and to provide all that you need for it.

If they do not have their own lawyers to help with this letter, I recommend consulting your own immigration lawyers. They will draft up the petition letter for you, get the HR to sign it, and give it back to you to take to customs.

I had a nurse recruiter look over my letter - she made changes and I let my HR department know and they changed it and sent me new ones :)
