Pinay/Pinoy Nurses in Aussie

Hi! Im currently working in UK as a nurse..planning to move to Aussie in 2 years time..just want to clarify about an issue regarding non-nursing spouses. Is it true that spouses are not eligible for any jobs in Australia unless you become an Australian Resident"..How true is this?

Not true. I'm still here in Uk but we (my family) are relocating to melbourne in june we have got our visa and my husband as my dependent has been granted a working visa without any restrictions, which means he can work anywhere he wants without limitation. My husband is a civil engineer.

Hospitals will sponsor you so that it is not always neccessary to go through an agency.

The first step is always to check on the registration requiments for the state you want to work in. Usually if you are coming from the Philippines you will need to complete a bridging course and this can be very expensive.

I know some nurses from the Philippines who were sponsored by hospitals here in NSW who did not undergo bridging course. It's because they had several years of experience working in Ireland/London before coming here..They came straight from those places to Australia. So the best way is to contact first a hospital who is willing to sponsor.
