It sounds so good!

I am seriously thinking about traveling in Jan. My agency talks so fast that I'm not really clear on all the details. I am doing this to make more money and see some of the country. I am very leary about it. I would really like to talk with someone that has done it before and get the real scoop.

Hi!

I've been traveling for about 10 years now. If you have any specific questions I'd be glad to try to help you answer them.

Traveling is a great lifestyle, but like any job, it has both it's positive and negative aspects.

Let me know if I can help!

Hey Baglady, what agency are you with, cause I'm with Valley Healthcare and I'm gonna switch, but I want an agency that can offer me a rental car along with high pay, any suggestions? I'm a Peds nurse, are there any great Children's hospitals out there I can travel to?

Hi - I'm with Cross Country, but as far as I know, they don't offer rental cars. There are some companies that do, but I'm not sure which ones. Can't tell you much about Children's hospitals, since I work OB, but maybe someone else will come in here with an answer.

Sorry I don't have more answers for you!

Good Luck

It is a great life. You are constantly on a vacation. You chose where you want to go they provide the housing, car etc. Many companies make the package to fit your needs..... I have been doing this for 7 years and have been with both bad and great companies.... the smaller companies actually look out for the Nurse... best of luck

i HAVE BEEN AN RN FOR 18 YEARS. JUST GETTING READY TO TAKE A FIRST TIME TRAVEL JOB. I WANT TO GO TO CALIFORNIA. BUT HAVE HEARD IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO GET YOUR LICENSE. IF YOU HAVE A REPRIMAND ON ANY OF YOUR CURRENT LICENSE. AND THAT THE TAXES CAN EAT YOUR WAGES UP? IS THERE ANY PLACE YOU RECOMMEND FOR A FIRST TIMER. THANKS FOR YOU INPUT.

I think I'm in the same boat as a lot of people here. Travel nursing sounds SO appealing but then I feel like I read so many horror stories on here and other forums. I have a great job now that will be hard to leave but I would love to see some new places and get some new experiences. How do you know what companies are the smaller ones that will look out for you? There are so many to choose from and so many sound good. I'm confused and wonder if maybe I should just stay where I'm at and take vacations whenver possible!

I am a nurse with 17 years of experience. I just started traveling last August. I would highly reccomend it. The fear of the unknown is the worst. Travelling is also a good self confidence booster. If you need to compare benefits there is a chart on nursetoolbox.com which I have found very helpful. Happy traveling.
