Anyone plan to attend in January or already a student? I have applied for January admission and was hoping to meet some other students.

I graduated from Crouse in 2000 so I can't help with friendship but I do want to wish you well in your studies. It's a decent school but I would not recomend working for their hospital when you finish.

Hello there! I am also in the area & looking into nursing programs. I was thinking of St. Joseph's. Any opinions on that school or hospital in general as a place to work?

I have applied to Crouse Irving for the Fall 2007, but have made my desires known that I would be interested in going in January if there was room and accepted. All my application requirements are in. I am presently in CA, but will be moving back to Central NY shortly.

Hey! I am also living in central new york and I am starting a CNA program at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville. I plan on going to nursing school in 2 more years when my husband is done with school. I jsut graduated Morrisville College with an AAS in Massage Therapy. Although I love it, I have always wanted to be a nurse ever since I was little. People sort of scared me away from it saying it would be too hard for me but I need to try it. There is something inside me saying I need to do this so im gettin there!! Let me know what you think about Crouses nursing program. I looked into it once before but now is jsut not the right time. I have heard good and bad things about Crouse and St. Joe's nursing programs, but not much about working in the hospitals.

The good stuff - both are accredited by NLNAC, both have high NCLEX pass rates above 90%, both are challenging prgrams.

The bad stuff - both programs are very intense, the instructors have high expectations (I would hope so!), and I've heard for both that they will find a way to hold you back (or fail you out) if you are not progressing well and they think you might fail the NCLEX. (to protect their high pass rate)

I chose Crouse mainly for these reasons:

1. my friend is a graduate and I can go to her for help & questions

2. the exam questions are structured just like the NCLEX to familiarize us with this style of testing

3. they offer a spring enrollment (St. Joe's is only in the fall.)

4. the staff I met were professional and friendly

I would recommend getting A&P out of the way before applying, most of the students I know that didn't were having a hard time, but other then that it is a great program. The faculty and staff really seem to go out of the way to set you up for success.

The only annoying thing, and it's only a minor annoyance, is that they seem to constantly throw unexpected hurdles at you, but I guess that is a part of most nursing programs.

Anyways, I really enjoy it there.

My first two instructors are Farnsworth (theory) and Dietz (lab), plus a clinical instructor that I'm not sure of yet. Any inside scoop you can tell me about these instructors?

Farnsworth is great. She is suprisingly funny. I didn't have her but she taught a couple of the combined classes, and I have talked to her a bit. I don't think I've met Dietz.

I completed A&P, Micro and most of the liberal arts courses in another program then transfered here. It's still challanging and sometimes nerve racking but the lab staff is great and the lecture instructors always make themselves available after classes.

I spent 2 1/2 hours today in the Nursing Lab practicing clinical skills that we will be tested on next week. They had the lab open all week so you could come in early and practice.

Anyone going to Crouse know the uniform? Is it all white with Crouse patches? Do you have to get them at the recommended store?

It is a ADN/ASN program. ADN is associate's degree in nuring and ASN is associate's degree of applied science of nursing...which basically is the same thing
