Hello everyone, I was wondering How you find out what your Mccd nursing program placement number was. I can see that I have a time and date stamp on my appication, when i look at the application status page. But I have read alot of people on this website talking about what there placement number was and I dont know were they are seeing this number at. All I see is the time stamp, I dont see any placement number anywhere. I know that placement for fall, starts in about 2 weeks, and I was just wanting to know what my placement number was. Please let me know if anyone has any clue to how you figure this out. Thanks Paul.

It's actually pretty easy to figure out if you know the time that they started issuing stamps. For example, my stamp was 8:02:21 date was something like 6/26, the first day of the application week, and they started issuing stamps at 8:00. What they do is issue a number every SECOND. So my lottery number was 141 of the summer applicants. Now you also have to remember that there are applicants who apply outside of the application week who may have a date/time stamp before you. Those people aren't figured into your lottery number. I also have a link to the MCCD nursing school placement sheet, that gives up to the second information on how many slots are available in each program. If you want I'll pm it to you.

I was considering moving to Arizona from Michigan sometime, I am currently at a community college with a whole lot of pre req's under my belt, however here in michigan I am wrapped up in the horribly long "wait lists" at community colleges and the competitiveness at the universities. Right now, the waiting lists at CC's are up to 3 years long to just start the nursing program, and the universities are highly competitive with students test scores at the max and gpa's at 4.0 and still not getting accepted.

Is it any better there in Arizona? How is the admittion and application processes there? I have heard there are a couple great schools for Nursing- has anyone heard of Apollo, or Pima I think they are actual medical institutes. Any information on cost of living, and the phoenix are in general will be helpful too.

He is a great person who deals with managing the electronic databases of nursing applicants - very helpful. He told me my number. I was something like 182 and got placed in my second choice (which had become my first choice!) in this last round. There is also a great link:

For the person interested in AZ community college. The wait now is approximately 1 year. You can find out the pre-reqs by visiting any of the community college nursing websites. All of the pre-reqs can be taken online - the only time you need to see a person is when you hand in your application. Pima and Apolo are private medical training places. So they charge about $30,000 versus $5,000 at the community colleges. Also have the same pre-reqs. As far as cost of living - housing bubble made it expensive. Not sure how it compares to Michigan.

You also have to remember that at Apollo and Pima they don't take many of your completed pre-req's, so you'll be doing a lot of classes over. PLUS the fact that you can't transfer your training to a BSN program if you want to continue your education. Pima and Apollo are great alternatives if you want to get into school now, but the drawbacks are definitely not worth it.

It's a cool website. Take heart - the wait is really not that long! I would just grind through the pre-reqs and do the nursing through the community colleges. It is discouraging - but when you knock out that last pre-req - it feels great!

Like Stopnik said....finishing that last pre-req is a good feeling. Also, don't forget about taking your co-req's too while you're waiting. I took the first half of patho and my humanities requirement while waiting to get in. During block one, most of the other students are struggling along with nursing classes AND Patho. It's not easy for them. So, get the co-reqs done too if you can. It'll lighten your load. Don't get discouraged. You'll get there eventually if you just keep at it.

Thanks guys but I just can't help but wonder if this is for me.......I am all done with pre-reqs, last one is almost over. I already have a B.S. degree and I am not exactly a youngster and have hoped to go on for my master's, so getting into school and through all of this is very important. Just seems like it is one roadblock after another. Dropped off my app. at SCC today and although the white board show 30 open slots for the accelerated program at SCC through Scottsdale Healthcare but according to Terry, those slots are completely full with a waiting list. Worse part is I gave up a very lucretive job, thinking I would be in nursing school in January. What an idiot!

Hey - why don't you shoot me a PM. I'm 36 and just left a 6-figure consulting job - also have my BA and MA, though in non-science fields. I felt all of the hoops I jumped through were just terrible - to get an ADN degree at that! I too plan to go all the way towards an MSN, but the BSN at ASU is so impossible I'm going the Phoenix College route for my associates.

So if you need some support/someone to commiserate with, etc. - just shoot me a private message. The hoops were just awful - but once you get your "spot" - it is the sweetest feeling! For example, I wanted to go to school ASAP. Even though the CNA was going away, to apply in the October 2005 period, I needed to get it! Stupid...now I'm accepted to a class where I don't even need that requirement. Argh...

I agree with Stopnik. I have a BA as well and also left a very good job with a company that I had been with for 17 years. It took me two years to finish my prereqs and I am now in Block 1. If I had my way I would be in the RN-MSN program right now, but, oh well, I didn't realize there were waiting lists for pre-reqs etc, etc........It is easy to get discouraged but you just need to hang in there! You will get in, school may be taking a little longer than originally planned, but at least you are that much closer to achieving your goal. I felt the same way you did just 6 months ago and now I'm getting ready to go to clinical. It is so exciting! This has definitely been worth the wait!
