So I recently started Nursing School Jan 8th and one of the things I've learned is that there is a Nursing Candidate Program for the Navy or (NCP) Has anyone taken this route? I plan on going to speak with a recruiter about it but just wanted to hear from other people and get their perspective on it.

I was accepted to NCP for FY19. It's a great program and I can try to answer any questions you may have! Make sure that you talk to an officer recruiter not enlisted

Ya I have contacted a couple recruiters and did not have much information given to me about it. I am calling today to speak with a chief in the medical recruitment. So hopefully that helps! But I will definitely ask you some questions if you don't mind!

I also did NCP several years ago. Very happy to have gone that route, though it was long and had a lot of bumps. Depending on where you are, the chiefs don't always know much about the program. And if they tell you they are full for the year, ask about starting the process for the next year, things change and you never know when that will happen, so if you are prepared, you may be able to take advantage of that. At one point I was told that they were done and then a few months later received a call saying that they needed me to go for an interview the following week. So if you want it (or even think you might) keep pushing for it. You should have plenty of time to figure out if you really do want it!

I was wondering if you are enrolled in a concurrent program where you attend a community college and university and end up with an associate and a BSN if you can still put in a package for NCP or is it only for straight BSN programs? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
