Normal struggles of a new job or just forgetful?

Hi everyone,

I am a new grad who just accepted an RN position at a large hospital in Michigan. I took the nclex and passed, so now im just waiting for the license to post online. Until then, I have to work as a tech on this unit. I have never worked as a tech before, so i shadowed a couple of the techs for a week (36 hours).

My boss gave me an extra day of training, and I think she did this because the techs gave her a bad report about me. I got the feeling they weren't thrilled about having to train me, and it didn't help that I forgot a couple things. On one of the days, I helped a patient back to bed from her chair and I forgot to move the call light next to her before I left the room. Another time, I guess I took too long putting a tele monitor on a patient because one of the monitor techs walked in the room and just grabbed it and finished putting it on for me.

And there were a couple of other "little" things I caught myself forgetting to do as well.

I try to be as helpful as possible and I always ask the other techs and nurses if they need help with anything. I don't mind doing "tech work", I'm just feeling kind of frustrated with myself that I'm not doing as well as I hoped. Am I being too hard on myself? Are these things expected to happen with a new job?
