JAUNDICE of unknown origin

here's the case..:

i have a cousin, 22 y/o, female..she suddenly have yellow eyes and skin sometime in february this year..we consulted an md and she ask to have sgpt, sgot, alp..in other words all of these are elevated..she was negative in hepa a, hepa b and hepa c surface antigens..and also non reactive in ana..

the md prescribed prednisone 5 mg, 4 tablets bid..she's still taking the said drugs until now...and the side effect of course: she"s so fat!!

but the yellowish discoloration subsided already..but what im wondering, is her liver enzymes, they are still elevated..even if she doent have any sign of jaundice..aside from the steroids shes also taking ursofalk..

her ultrasound is unremarkable..and she has no other signs or symptoms...

any thoughts nurses?..

by the way her grandparents (mother side) both died from the complications of diabetes...her mother is not diagnosed of diabetes, but her uncle and aunties do have diabetes.

im not doubting her md, but you see, her check up is evry 2 weeks..and so is her sgpt, sgot, and alp....i pity her..

please help..

Please read this article on dietary supplements and liver damage.Has she been taking any herbal diet supplements? This article talks about vitamin supplements that can cause liver damage. It describes one case where a woman almost needed a liver transplant. :uhoh21:

we have thought that before..but she's not taking any supplements (aside from ascorbic acid) before her jaundice started...the MD is suspecting an AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE..after she started taking prednisone, which is a steroid..her jaundice subsided..but then the side effects makes her more insecure...shes so fat now..with all these pimples on her face...
