So I have just completed my 1st year as a nurse on a trauma unit. I signed a contact when I started as I was a new grad that I would stay 2 years. If you don't stay the full 2 years you have to pay back 7000 but it is prorated.

My husband had been offered an amazing promotion to another state and I would never want to hold him back. We will pay the money. My question is will it be extremely difficult for me to find a job being that I did not complete the 2 year contract?

No. That won't factor in if you leave correctly and are eligible for rehire. Tell them you are leaving because your husband is being transferred.

By any chance do you work for a large national health care chain? If so there may be a possibility of transferring if there is a sister facility close to where you are moving. If not, other than needing to pay back a portion of the contract you should have no worries. Leaving because your husband is being transferred is a perfectly acceptable reason to break your contract. Just make sure and give a proper notice to stay eligible for rehire.

Many nursing jobs require four weeks or more of notice. Make sure to check and see to make sure you give the proper notice. Also talk to your manager to explain your reason for leaving.
