Volunteering on Surgical Floor

Hi,

I just finished my final interview for volunteering at a local hospital.

What will I be doing on the surgical floor as far as types of work a volunteer is permitted to do?

From what I understand this is the post-op floor?

Welcome to AN! Chances are that volunteer duties may vary from facility to facility, so your best bet would be to check with the volunteer coordinator.

As Rose_Queen stated, it will vary by facility. At my hospital, volunteers typically do clerical work and act as "runners" for tasks like bringing samples to the lab or picking up supplies from dietary or central supply. They are not used for any patient care duties.
