New home health intake rn

Hi everybody.

I am starting a new job as an intake rn for home health. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to be the best I can be at this new job.

I have 25 years of nursing experience. As a BSN ( hemodialysis, l&d, holistic health, ALF). I have experience in resident assessments for ALF, and experience with insurance verification for clinic I managed, but any tips will help.

thanks

Off the top of my head and not an exclusive list..

Read/know the Medicare Home Health Guidelines ie medical necessity, home bound.

Learn your service territory incl neighborhoods/zip codes. Learn each individual case mgr/team's territories.

Learn the companies that service your service area for IV therapy, enteral therapy, DME.
