Your experiences?

Merry X -mas all !!! I go to take my test in 2 weeks and was wondering if anyone had any to do or not to do tips on the test.I have heard from different people it was easy and also it was hard.If you could tell me why you thought it was easy or hard maybe it could help me on my test.Also I keep hearing that you fail because of points you get taken off when you do the test.What and how many points do you get taken away.Thank you all for the help.

The test is very easy. My wife, who never took a cna course, answered the questions without any problems. As far as the skills part, that you have to know. There are certain steps that you MUST do in order to pass and other things you will have "points" taking off, but you will not automatically fail.

My suggestion is to show up early. Give yourself time to just collect your thoughts. Good luck, enjoy your Christmas, and let us know how the test goes!

On my test we had first the written test and then the skills test. The skills test was so nerve racking for me because I had never done anything like this before. Try not to stress, I know this is easier said than done. I was one of the last people to do my skills and I didn't finish one of them because I ran out of time only had two steps left, but I cried because I didn't think I passed...Guess what I did got the fax about ten minutes later that said I passed. What a relief. On some of the skills if their was an important step (could not be missed) we would not pass that particular skill. Don't worry you will be fine.

I'm pretty sure my entire class passed.

And I remember the skills being fairly simple. One of mine was measuring the urine output on someone's graduated cylinder & I didn't know that "ccs" were the same as "mls" & the woman who was testing me actually told me that it was.

So, I guess what I took away from my test (& what I'm trying to impress on you) is that they don't nit-pick. They just want to make sure you're doing everything safely.

Our tests were all given through a company called Promissor & we were given a handout of skills & how many points each part of the skill was worth to study from before the exam. Do you have access to that pamphlet?

Our instructors recommended going in uniform - scrubs, white shoes, hair tied back, just as if you were going to your job. One of our clinical instructors is a judge for the skills test and she says that people who come in uniform do better than people who arrive in civvies.
