Hey there everyone, my name is Ben, i am a nursing student. I am taking a class this summer, and one of our assignments is to ask 1 LPN and 1 RN to define what they think nursing is. I thought, since i dont know a whole lot of nurses outside of the students and teachers i go to school with, that this would be as good of place as any to find out what nursing means to nurses. I appreciate all responses in advance. So please tell me, how do you define nursing?????

Nursing is nourishing and helping people without anything in return but just their smiles and simple thanks.
Well, that's what nursing is for me.
PS: I'm still a Nursing student :)

ANA definition of nursing from ANA's Social Policy, Statement
"Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and the advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations."
An important distinction for nursing students... we differ from the field of medicine (practiced is limited to physicians) is that we are primarily focused on human responses rather than the disease/illness itself.
