2 Year Minimum for Active Duty RN

Published

Just thought I would put an fyi out there, currently for fy2012 there is not a mandated 2 years experience to go active as previously thought. There are fewer slots however but in order to mix it up for new nurses as well as seasoned nurses there are slots for both just not as many. Just wanted to put that out there since I kept hearing that now the army is requiring 2 years of experience in order to join.

Where are you hearing this from? From what I have heard from high up in the Army Nurse Corps you need 2 years experience to obtain a direct commission and if you are a new grad you must be in some sort of Army funded program.

Just talked to a bunch of new nurses coming in through the Army and the Navy--they all have at least 2 years experience if they aren't ROTC. The military is trying to cut 50,000 soldiers by 2013 last I heard. There's no way they're going to loosen requirements now.
