Has anyone here recently gone through the process of writing a CEU program and getting approval either through a state BON or ANA type organization to become a provider?
If so can you provide some info on how you started and worked through it?
Why you chose _________ as the organization to get your CEU program approved?
Did you find out anything along the way or after that would have made your process easier?
Do you know of any organizations or individuals who you can pay to either go through or help you go through this process to make it easier?
I am looking at developing a single subject training program and would like to be able to offer the program as a CEU program rather than simply a certificate of completion program. If there is company that does this i'd be happy to just pay to get it done. But if not, I'm going to need some info from those who have done it already. So any input would be helpful.
Thanks

I have previously been through this process in a couple of different ways and this is what I did...
The first time I developed a program the hospital I was working at let me use their contact hours provider number because I was teaching staff. I did need to complete the entire process of meeting all requirements for the BON but once I did that they took care of the rest.
Another time I took this on myself and I chose to go through my state BON. On your state website there should be information that explains the requirements to apply to be a CEU provider.
What I found out along the way was the need for patience. It took about 4 months for the BON to respond with the provider number. I do understand from other providers that California and Florida are the best states to be certified in. Easier to deal with once you're certified I guess.
I don't know of anyone who does this for people. Wish I did! Really I think you need to do most of the leg work since your course will need objectives, an outline, development of a contact hours certificate to give to attendees etc... Once you have all that the submitting should hopefully be straight forward.
There are some organizations that you can teach for directly. You propose the course. If they like the idea, you develop the content and I believe you then work as a contact hours provider under them under their provider number. You would be an independent contractor with them. Obviously they would make some income off you too.
I would suggest you start by going to your state BON website and see what you learn. Am I missing anything? Best of luck! EXCITING!!!
