working in texas

I live out of Shreveport Louisiana and will graduate in may. I really want to apply at Medical City in Dallas to work. I know Texas is a compact state, but will I be able to do this. We cant move, I would really appreciate any input. I want to have all my ducks in a row by time I graduate.

Thanks

You might want to accrue one to two years of acute care hospital experience in Shreveport/Bossier City before coming to Dallas.

The Dallas area is unforgiving to out-of-state new grads and the job market is brutal, with each new grad position receiving 300 to 500 applications. If you have not done any local networking and/or did not complete any clinical rotations at any area hospitals, finding a hospital job here as a new grad without any experience will likely turn into an uphill battle.

Good luck to you.

Thank you.

I graduated from the university of miami and came all the way to Dallas for a job ;) don't give up. try and talk to people you know in the area and have hme put in a good word to their managers/directors and just apply to all open positions. good luck!

I don't plan give up. I'll apply here and apply there too. My daughter goes to Medical City for all her Dr appointments and her open heart surgeries have been there. It's my dream to work there in pediatric. It may take time but I'll get there
