Working while in the RN full-time track program???

I'm at CSN too and I work Full time while in the program, but I am in the Part time program. However, I know there are people in the Full time program that do work full time jobs and they are doing it. So it is do-able. I think it just depends on how well you manage your time and what other situations are going on at home. And if you have a good support system...that helps a lot! First semester is the same for Full and Part time students and the thing that helped me get through was just scheduling times for myself to study and stick to it. Eventually it becomes routine and you get used to it. You can do it if you want it bad enough. Don't let other people discourage you.

Ditto what Tree5981 said. I just finished 1st semester and there were people in my class that work full time, part time, 2-3 part time jobs, have kids, etc. I completely admire those people because I don't have to work and I don't have children and I still found the program time consuming!

it's doable. I know many who have done the FT and worked. I will be doing it with 2 kids under 6! Very few people are single with no responsabilities (spouse, work, kids). We all make it work somehow!

I am in the part-time prog, entering 3rd sem RN in the fall, I am married w 2kids one of which has special needs, I work 3 12hr shifts at UMC. It is hard, but doable. Just remember that you can sleep when you graduate lol

Exactly! Thats how i get through it too. I just know that it is only temporary and I will get some sleep some day LOL>

I am currently working a full-time job, Monday-Friday 7-4!! I am looking for a night job, part-time, to start now and continue working when Spring RN courses start. Any advice? I have been searching and searching and searching but nothing. I have been in the Admin. world for over 10 years and so I am trying to get into the medical field as a clerical/admin. just to get into "that" world. Do any of you know of any places that are hiring for nights and/or weekends??? I know none of you know me so I don't expect any recommendations but just looking for some advice from those that are currently working in the medical field or in hospitals. I am a very hard worker!!!

:eek:EXCUSE MISS THING, I'd like to know what planet are u from????? Don't u know that program is just too damn hard for words??? FULL TIME ON BOTH ENDS? WORKING???? U don't work! You get yourself some financial assistance. Take out a loan at least and if you're lucky enough, get a grant. Ok Tree, you're in the program full time right. Each of those courses except Pharmacology are 3 classes ALL In One. When do you actually punch in for work? This nursing program at csn #1 top priority, ur job will never understand that. Everyone must dedicate their lives to that bs. Your superwoman advice is a no no. And what about sleep? U better take some uppers. Some meth lol. Part-time, I guess thats a different story cuz its one class per sememster. But full-time, don't expect to get an A all the way to grad. Come back to reality sweets. Going to work full time and doing a full-time track is over the top stressful. Its best to work part time. I don't know about you or the girl who made this post but I'm a realist.

Reread my post itolduso_nurse....I said I worked FULL TIME and went to school PART TIME at CSN. Not FULL TIME for both. By the way, I graduated and passed and I'm an RN now so it is do-able. I paid CASH and my work gave tuition reimbursement. So yes they were very understandable. I don't do meth...its called hard work and sacrifice. There are people I know who worked FULL time and went to school FULL time and passed ( and some of them have children as well) It's all about how bad you want you something. I'm not saying it is EASY by no means, but school was my number 1 priority obviously because I finished regardless of anything else going on in my life. I really don't care what you believe about me...but honestly there are people out there who were willing and able to work and go to school at the same. I'm a realist too and I'm telling you in all honesty, it CAN be done. Its all about wanting it bad enough. And it IS worth it in the end.

I graduated from CSN in '09. I worked a full time job (40 hours/week) and was in the full time nursing program. It is doable. I was even pregnant during my last semester. Had my baby 2 weeks before graduation. Before I got pregnant, I survived on coffee, prayers, and my husband's shoulder. Its all about good support systems! I have to admit that I had 1 emotional melt down each semester but I blame that on lack of sleep and stress. Just remember, it won't last forever. Today I'm a happy, healthy, well-adjusted nurse. It was the hardest thing I ever did but the best decision!~

So have to ask even though this post is quite old...how did being pregnant the last semester work out for you? I'm planning on either having a baby the summer before or at the end of 4th semester so that it doesn't interfere with finding a job and going on maternity leave.
