Hey! I just got into LVN school in CA. I was wondering about those who work in Peds. I love working with children but I have a feeling that I may have a difficult time finding work as an LVN for peds. Anyone out there work with children as an LVN or LPN? If so how did you get into working with children? Thank you!

Hey there...I graduated in 06 and have been an LPN for about a year... I started working in peds as soon as i graduated with a home health agency. I've been on the same case for almost a year now and i really enjoy it. If theres anything else I can answer please feel free to ask!

Hi, there! I'm originally from Southern California, and actually attended a private LVN program in the greater Los Angeles area in 2004 and 2005. During my clinical rotations, I saw several LVNs employed at pediatric outpatient clinics and teen clinics that were connected to major hospitals. I also observed LVNs working at family practice clinics, where they have plenty of exposure to children.
Thank you everyone for replying! I appreciate it :)

I had a pediatric private case for close to a year, and I floated to a family practice clinic in my hospital that included peds.

I work through an agency and spend a lot of time in group homes for the developmentally disabled. One of them is a pediatric home. I not only have spent time there, but have also participated in the care of a toddler on a ventilator. LPN's usually work in long-term care, but this doesn't always mean geriatrics.
