I am a pre nursing student finishing up my Gen Ed courses at Manatee Community College in the Tampa area. This is my second Nursing course that I will be applying to. The first course was Kieser in Jax FL in which I was accepted but after I figured out the cost (40k) for a two year degree, that required me to take mostly all of my Gen Ed classes there and not being able to transfer the class for my BSN to another school (they dont tell you this :angryfire) I transferred out to MCC in Tampa. Now I am receiving my student loan money and I am using it to pay for my CNA course I want to work in a hospital as a CNA/PCT while contining on with my RN classes;). I worry because I do not know if I will be able to get into a hospital without that 1 year of experience. I was looking at a few HCA hospitals even though they do not have a good reputation, I am hearing there is a need for them and I figure I can tough it out for a year and then transfer to another hospital.
Is this a good plan in your opinion? Are hospitals in Tampa easy to get into without the 1 year experience, this includes HCA. I was thinking about applying for HCA her in JAX and letting an RN bring me in as a referal and then transferring to Tampa maybe that would be the easier route.

I actually got in to a hospital as a CNA with only 9 months of experience. So the one year rule does not apply if u get good references. I say go for it
thanks so much for your reply, I have finished my CNA course :yeah:but I have not taken my exam, I am waiting to see what my hubby will do he is a LEO and is looking to transfer it will either be Tampa or Atlanta, so I hope he makes up his mind asap. If we do go to Atlanta I will take my CNA exam there and try for a hospital job if not I will do agency home care until I can get into a hospital. I am using my financial aid money to pay my living expenses now.
Good Luck:nurse:
