Hello all! I wanted to know what schedule you think is best for a CNA going to lpn school Monday-Friday from 7am-3pm. I’m trying to figure out what shifts are best and how many hours to work per week while having time to study and without having to give up every weekend.

I'm working as a PCA during school (not certified yet as CNA, but all UAP at my hospital are called PCA no matter what their certifications). I work PRN Saturdays 7-7, and pick up a shift here and there when I can. It's not much $, but definitely think it was good to get into this hospital and build a resume in anticipation for an RN job down the road.

Smart plan! Not only are you building a resume, you also have your foot in the door, which should make it easier to secure a licensed position.

Excellent thing to do if your schedule allows it. I worked FT and class PT so I didn't have the option but sure wish I did. I think it would really help you in school but also once you graduate as well. Best of luck!
