Hello all! I just passed my boards last Friday, and found out I got a job today in a brand new clinic. It just opened about 6 months ago, there are 2 physicians and I will be working w/ the nurse practitioner there. It is about two minutes from my house and I can see my girls' school out the front door. It is perfect in every way. So I guess my question goes to any LPN's working in this kind of facility. Any pointers, things to DO or NOT to do, etc. I am very nervous, and want to do the right things. Thanks for any advice!

Congrats on passing boards. My experience in a clinic wasn't that great- but I worked for 4 brothers (docs) who were old and stuck in their ways :) I did, however, love working with the nurse practitioner! Good that the clinic is new- you should have up to date equipment, etc... and the hours sound great. It is wonderful that you get to get your kids off to school. Just relax, they are aware that you are a new grad. You will get more comfortable once you get a routine down. Good luck.

Congrats on the new job! That sounds pretty awesome. I'm a new grad and this is only my 2nd week on the job. I work in a urgent care walk-in clinic and really enjoy it. I work with 2 docs and 2 PAs. They were training me at a very slow pace so after watching everything for a little bit I kept asking if I could do it while they observed (x-rays, lab draws, cast removal, EKG, vision checks, etc). They saw that I was eager to learn and began giving me more responsibility. I love the challenge. Good luck! I wish you the best! Hit me up if you have any questions

First and foremost-CONGRATS!! I work at a rather large clinic. The only advice I can give is to continue learning! Take extra classes, research online, refer to your old classroom books. I feel that since I graduated and started working clinic right away, I did not get the experience in most nursing skills such as IV's, tube feedings, caths, and what not. I like my clinic job, but I feel that I lack many skills I would have learned if I started in a SNF or hospital.

Congrats on the new job! It sounds great!
HADS, I'm excited to see that as a new grad, you were hired by an urgent care facility. We have a lot of those here & I wondered if they hired LPN's!
