I will be starting an accelerated nursing program in the fall taking 16 hours. My school suggests that we do not work, but I know that i will definitely need some kind of money coming in. I'm thinking of applying to work-study positions, or even putting up an add to baby sit. I'm wondering how many hours a week you guys think is a good amount to work, but do still do well in my nursing program (because that definitely comes first!)? Or should I steer clear from working all together?
Thanks in advance :)

It is a general question and it depends of what you are willing/wanting/have to go through. I had to work and I did it Ft 40+ exhausting hours per week and it went ok. No life at all but ok

Most people will advise you against working during an ABSN program. I agree, that if you don't have to, it may be best to just focus on the program. My ABSN program also "strongly recommends" that we don't work, although when I asked some of the current students who were at our orientation, they were all working a few hours a week. The adviser interrupted them, to tell me that this was not a good idea, ha. Anyway, I plan to work because I have to. I guess it depends on what you have to do/willing to do...
Were you in an ABSN program?? If so you are superhuman!
Thanks for your responses! I'm probably going to work a few hours (nothing more than 10/week) through work study just because I'm moving to NY for my program and don't want to b stuck with no kind of money in pocket lol.
