I am a registered nurse in the UK, and want to study anesthesia in america. How do i go abouts that. I have looked at the sites but they require different registrations from the state, e.g "Current New York State nursing license".

You need to go to the board of registered nursing for that state in which you want to study. The website will tell you how to transfer a nursing lisence or education from another country. Every state is different so plan ahead and figure out which school you want to go to.

Yes, that's right. CRNAs are advanced practice nurses, so they do all require a nursing license as a start. You need an RN license for the state in which you will do your clinicals. Choose the school you want to attend and talk to their Office of International Students, then contact that state nursing board (or check their website) to see the steps to get a license there.
Just FYI - if you will be on a student visa, out of state anesthesia tuition + living expenses are going to run you a LOT of money, which you generally need to provide evidence of having before you start.

As mentioned you will need to meet state requirements to be a RN and pass NCLEX. Depending on how long a go you trained in the UK may depend if you have issues as US training is General with clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics as well as Adult. Short in any of these areas and you will not be able to meet RN requirements and sit NCLEX. Currently no courses in the UK to top up hours required
Also as mentioned it will be expensive to live as a student in the US and there is also no guarantee that you will be able to stay in the US afterwards
