My husband and I are RNs and are soon planning to retire. We would like to sail and work in the carribean. Does anyone have any experience in this area or any advise?:)

Specializes in OB, M/S, ICU, Neurosciences.

I've only been to the Carribean on vacation, but always thought it would be an interesting option to work there during the nasty midwest winters! I don't have any inofmration to offer you, but wanted to wish you both the best as you pursue what sounds like a dream retirement!

Specializes in cardiac, diabetes, OB/GYN.

Some places don't use American RNs I was told many years ago when I was interested in working in Barbados..Hopefully that has changed....

Specializes in Case Mgmt; Mat/Child, Critical Care.

I can give you info re:working in the USVI (St. Thomas, St. John, St. Martin). PM me if you're interested. :)

Specializes in Step down, ICU, ER, PACU, Amb. Surg.

You also might want to check out some travel agencies. If I remember correctly, there are a few out there that after you work for them for a year, you can apply for an assignment in a nice, warm, tropical location. Hope it works out for you.....what a way to start retirement!!
