Will separate A & P Courses meet AP1&2 pre reqs

Published

The BSN program I will most likely apply to next year after moving requires "A&P1" and "A&P2" as expected of course. In the small town I'm currently living in, I can only find "Anatomy and Physiology" (no number listed so not sure where the second course would come from if I take it here), "Human Anatomy", or "Human Physiology". No "A&P2" anywhere here. I heard that Anatomy was equivalent to AP1 and Physiology equivalent to AP2. If this is true and I take Anatomy and Physiology as their own class with their own lab (possibly in the same semester), is it likely this will transfer and satisfy "AP1" and AP2" requirements at my future school? Sorry if this question is a little confusing, but thanks for any input you may have anyway. Man this would be easier if I waited till we moved and I just stayed at the same school I plan to apply to, but I really don't want to wait so long.

You may want to speak with an advisor and see how those courses normally transfer to other schools, since each school is different. I would imagine that that would be the equivalent, though.

Our opinion in this matter is meaningless. Some colleges combine the two, so the content of both is spread out over a year; others have an anatomy course and a separate physiology course.

What you must do is get the syllabus for the courses you want to take and share them with the program you want to attend. That's standard for transferring any academic coursework. The receiving faculty (or maybe admissions counselors) will evaluate the course and see if it would meet their requirements, and then decide whether the credits will apply to the program you enter, or not. There may also be a way to take a challenge exam (sometimes called "comp" for comprehensive) to document your mastery of the material. But you have to ask them for their specific requirements, not us.

Good luck!
