Will I ever get accepted to nursing school in San Diego with a GPA of 2.75-3.0?!

:( I go to an accelerated university and basically do a semester in 10 classes and science courses in 20 classes (2 semesters). I had to retake the lecture portion of AP1 and now Microbiology. I'm starting to feel like i've wasted my time and i'll never get into a BSN program. Does anyone know what my chances are at ever getting in? I also have 3 years OB/GYN experience as a medical assistant etc. Any tips and adivce would help!

What's the rush? It sounds like that environment of accelerated classes may not be for you, sounds like you're struggling. Everyone, their mama and grandmother are wanting to be nurses now a days, you're going to have to get that GPA up because it's super competitive. I believe if you really want to do this and have you're heart set on becoming a nurse you can do it. Are you working full time?

First, check and see what the cut-off GPA is for the BSN. I'm guessing most are 3.0. If you GPA is less than a 3.0, you won't even be able to apply. Next, you should talk to an academic advisor. They can help you in identifying where you are going wrong or even tell you what your options are for re-taking classes and grade forgiving. There's no shame in meeting with tutors. They can help you study and give you advice on good studying habits. See if there are classes that can help boost your GPA. Some classes are not needed for application, but needed for graduation. You can take those classes to boost your GPA and knock out some classes during nursing school. Most colleges are flooded with nursing applicants, so do what ever you can to get your GPA up. If you are having trouble getting into a BSN program, you can look into an RN program at a community college. However, there are just as many applicants and many of them have a 3.5-4.0 when applying, but it's better to try as many different options as possible.

Kayyyt is making a very good point. Although it's tempting, don't rush through your pre-requisites. If you want to have a chance of succeeding in your nursing education, you must have a very solid understanding of your basic sciences - especially A&P -- as well as a stellar GPA. I just don't see how this is possible with such an accelerated pace. It seems like this strategy has already bitten you in the B**t.
