Will i get into nursing?

So I'm a first year Arts student at the University of Alberta. I've decided that I want to transfer into the nursing program here.

The competitive gpa is 3.5, on the most recent 24 credits.

By the end of April, I will have 27 credits.

The problem is that I finished last semester with two A-, one B+ and one D+ in chemistry. I've calculated the grades I will need on my next courses, but even if I get all A's in them, my GPA will only be 3.5, because of the D+. Without the D+, I would have a 3.7

If I end up with grades that are not what I need, for example if I get an A- in a class instead of A, it brings my GPA down to 3.4

Do I still have a chance of being accepted?

Its an undergraduate program, straight admittance from highschool.

Admission range from last year was 83.5%-88%

If someone could offer any advice that would be great because I can't stop worrying about this.

honestly the only person who could answer what your chances are would be a recent applicant at this same program. You asked for advice and my best advice is to contact the admissions and/or nursing advisor and ask him or her these questions. They know your chances, we don't. good luck!

I think most programs require to have at least a C in your sciences, so there is a good chance you will have to retake that class. Go talk to your adviser.

D+ means one of two things. One you did not work hard enough. Or two you are unable to learn the material. If it is 1 then you control how hard you study. Instead of trying to manipulate numbers to get in...put the work in DURING the class and the problem is solved. If it is two then you may need to find a career where a lower GPA is acceptable.

I would say you need at least C in all your prereq science courses, that's the minimum. Nursing programs are competitive and you have to compete with people who have all As so the higher grade the better. If your GPA is not really promising at the moment, you could also consider after-degree nursing? I have a friend who graduated from U of A with Biology and now doing the after-degree nursing program there. Talk to your advisor and find out your options. Good luck!
