Will my DOS resent me?

Hello. I was recently offered a position with higher pay but less hours. To fill the gap I want to stay at my current position part time. If i bring this up with my DOS and she says no I will remain at my current job, but do you think I will suffer resentment from the administration because I looked elsewhere? This is my first year as a nurse.

All you have to do is indicate that you would like to cut back your hours to X / week for personal reasons. Do NOT say why; they don't have to know and they can't ask you. If they do anyway, reiterate that it's personal. If they say you can't, then you get to decide whether your "personal reasons" are so compelling that you will leave anyway (this is, in part, to call their bluff) or not (in which case, they have called yours).

Me, I'd go for the better job (regardless of pay). If it's the one with fewer hours, it might increase later, or you can take a per diem somewhere else to make up the difference. If it's the one you have already, count your blessings. Money isn't everything and the grass is not always greener over there.
