Why does this seem impossible?

hello everyone!

i am trying to not become completely discouraged. i have been searching and applying for cm, ur, dm positions with insurance companies for about 2 years now without success. i have been a rn for 10+ years and have vast experiences. i also am almost finished with my msn. i have worked in icus early in my career, pre & post op, clinical research, medical-legal case review, and most recently staff development (including wc). i have worked at home previously (was laid off from that position) and would eventually like to do so again at least some of the time. i don't necessarily have to have an insurance company but know i do not want a hospital based position. i live in alabama. i'm not sure if it has been where i have been searching or if it is a location issue. but, i know there are many on here who describe having and applying for the type of position i am looking for. if you have any suggestions, please pm or respond. thanks in advance!

You have great credentials for role. I'm curious... why not in hospital setting. That is where I work; the pay is great, we are salaried, and have few on call + no travel. I recommend you try the different CM web sites, many of them have places to look for open positions. If you want Ins company, you could do telephonic CM from your home office... You might try looking on the web, and typing in Case Mangement positions in your query, and see what hits you get.
