I know I should ask my advisor this question, and I shot her off an e-mail, but she hasn't replied yet and I need to decide soon, so I thought I would ask here.
I'm currently in a BSN program still doing my pre-reqs, and when I first came to college I was undeclared and wasn't focused on school, (I am completely focused now, straight A's last semester) but my school only looks at your pre-req nursing GPA, and only two of the classes I took are even on the list, which is good for me, however, I want to retake one of them this summer to boost my GPA. My choices are Intro to Sociology, which I received a B in, or any social science elective, which I received a B- in. The way it works is you need any sociology class, and any social elective class, whether it be economics, business, or history, as long as it is listed as a social science elective.
Normally, I would think just re-take the class with the lower grade, however, the reason I'm hesitant is because they specifically ask for a sociology class (doesn't matter which one though), but they only ask that you have a social science elective, I realize both are counted in my nursing gpa, however I'm wondering if they might care more about me having an A in sociology than in A in just any social science class.
Another reason I am hesitant is because if I re-take sociology, it goes on my transcript as a re-take, but my nursing advisor will take the higher grade. However the social science elective I took before was Political Science, and my advisor said I could take Any social science elective and she would take the higher grade, and I'm wondering if this is a better option because it is not seen as a re-take? I would just be taking another class I haven't already taken, and it would just replace my social science elective for my nursing GPA. Or is it better to retake sociology because the committee might look at that more than a social science elective class? All my other pre-reqs up until now are A's, these are my only two B's and I just want to make myself as competitive as possible. Should I re-take the sociology class I received a B in? Or just take another social science elective to replace the B-?
I'm sorry if this came off as confusing, and I know it is a question I should ask my advisor, however, she has not e-mailed me back yet and it has been bothering me all week! I just want to make sure I redo the right class as I cannot retake both. Any suggestions would be great!:)

If your nursing advisor is like mine, you can forget about getting a response at all!
I would take another social science class to boost my GPA instead of retaking anything. Especially something that you got a B in...

In my school, you can't retake a course unless you got a D or lower, so I would just take a different course.
