Which ADN program prepares the best students?

I am currently taking prerequisites for ADN. I have a BA English from the University of Louisville and only need A&PII and Micro/lab. I was planning on applying to JCC in Louisville (I actually live 45 miles north), with tentative plans to finish a BSN at UofL later, but I've read some rather unpleasant posts regarding JCC. I certainly prefer the tuition rates at JCC, but would be willing to pay a bit more at another school as long as the benefits are tangible. I'd like to hear from graduates of different programs (UofL, Bellarmine, Spalding, Galen) and also those who supervise new graduates. Thanks in advance for any input you can offer. :wink2:

Don't be nervous. That is from 2006 and Galen had just started their RN program. It is probably higher now. Also, it's not just about pass rates, Galen really tries to get their students as much clinical experience as possible. I had great clinicals through Galen, but you also have to have a good attitude about going to school. That is what's going to make or break your success in nursing school. You will do great.

The 2007 NCLEX pass rates are now up. Not only has Galen's rate dropped (which still worries me even though I know I shouldn't), it seems most schools pass rates have dropped as well.

They've dropped because the NCLEX changed. It is normal for most schools to experience this when the test changes. Also, look at Bellarmine and Spalding (VERY good programs), their numbers have dropped also. No matter where you go, YOU are the determining factor of whether or not you will do well in school and pass the NCLEX. Study hard. Take it seriously and learn as much as you can. Galen is a good school. They are new and are still working on organizing and things like that, but they do have some good instructors who really want to teach people to become good nurses. So don't get discouraged. Go to school, be optimistic and try to squeeze a little bit of fun in there.
