Where are the New Grad Programs?

Published

I am about to graduate in May and I've noticed that many hospitals are beginning to bring back new grad programs. My question is this: where is information about these programs listed? I've looked on many hospital websites and found nothing...I'm not particular where I work when I graduate, I just require a facility/office/ambulatory center, etc. that provides a good training for a new graduate nurse. As far as hospitals, do I need to call HR and ask. Also, if anyone can provide information about facilities and organizations, please feel free to PM me!

Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated!

So I just finished my new grad job search and can give you a little information about the Boston area. MGH just hired for their new graduate critical care program. They will hire new grads straight onto the floor, but most of their job openings are requiring 1-2 years of experience and BSN preferred.

Beth Israel only hires new grads into Clin I positions. There are none currently available on their website. This is the only way to get into their new grad program.

Brigham & Women's has very few nursing positions open right now. I believe I saw one for an LPN and one or two for RN Case Manager positions and that's about it. Human Resources will be able to give you information about their new grad program, if they have one going at the moment.

Tufts does not, as far as I know, have a new graduate program. There are very few nursing positions open, and those that are mostly require 1-2 years acute care experience.

Finally New England Baptists has said they may re-open their program. It does not seem that they opened it in February like they said they were going to. You can call and ask about that as well. 617-754-5227

Moral of the story, it's a tight market in Boston for new grads, but you can get in with lots of perseverance. Good luck!

Carrig, that was some great info. Thanks for sharing!

Also, Boston Medical Center is not hiring new grads at all, and they were not very polite about it either.

New England Baptist did post there new grad program in february for only like 2 weeks!!:(:(

I used to work at the VA in West Roxbury as an RN and rumor has it from my former co-workers that they are bringing back their new grad program. I believe they are doing the same low hourly pay that MGH's new grad program is offering. Just an FYI. My experience there was amazing and I received med/surg, telemetry, and oncology experience. They also have several ICUs that you can apply to after a few years. The pay and benefits were outstanding once I got my foot in the door (then again they didn't have a new grad program when I started)
