Hi everyone, let me share a little about me- I've been an LPN for yrs and nursing is my passion. I decided to continue my education 2 complete all the requirements for the BSN program. After successfully doing so,I was diagnosed with an intramedullary spinal cord tumor C2-C6 and had to undergo emergency surgery 2 remove about 80% of the tumor. Since then I've had to relearn 2 walk, write etc. Unfortunately I was left with some neurological deficits ( no feeling in right hand, spasticity, minimal feeling in lower extremities). Now I'm not sure if I should proceed with my original plans of applying for the BSN program since It's physically impossible for me to work with patients because I'm unable to do many of the responsibilities nurses have on the floor. What else can I do with a BSN degree. Thanks in advance for your input.

Welcome to allnurses! You may want to consider case management, telephonic triage nursing, utilization review etc. All of these require experience, preferably as an RN, but it's worth it to inquire about these jobs because you do have years of nursing experience. You might also think about going on with your education and get an MSN so you can teach. There are ways of working with your brain, not your body. Good luck!
