I'm currently going into my sophomore year at the University of Washington and will be applying to their extremely competitive nursing program. In the very realistic chance I am not accepted I have started to compile a list of schools in which to apply afterwards. I have done some research but I am extremely overwhelmed, as a resident in California and student in Washington I am unsure what my options are exactly. If anybody that has gone through this process can offer any words of wisdom it would be greatly appreciated. The process is extremely daunting, especially when you have no idea what you're doing like me :,)

Some good resources for looking for schools:
The state BON website will have a list of approved programs. (This is for WA; I'm sure CA has something similar)
ACEN has a search page for accredited programs.
CCNE has a search page for accredited programs.

You'll think this is nuts, but it isn't. Speak to the nursing admissions people. Your chances of admission may be better than you think, or you may have time to improve them, and they will have specific suggestions. They can also advise you on alternatives, because they may know where other people in your position went. There are other good programs in the Seattle area, too.
