When to apply?

Hi all.

for those of you who applied to schools and got in with only a year's experience, did you apply when you actually had the year's experience or can you apply earlier given that you will have the experience by the interview. I know i read somewhere that someone was accepted with 8 months experience only? I just moved from the step down icu to the icu and am trying to decide when the earliest i could reasonably apply would be. Most programs in my area begin in September.

Thanks for any input, especially from people with experience.

I would ask straight out why I wasn't accepted and maybe ask if I had good recommendations. If they say yes, then don't worry about it. Chances are, most people have good recommendations but are denied acceptance for other reasons. There's no shame in applying twice to the same school, it actually shows determination to how bad you want it.

Hi, Vinn I understand what you are experiencing, I applied to school with 6months experience as a nurse, by the time I interviewed I had 11 months, I just found out that I was accepted to the first program that I interviewed with. My advice to you is to nail the interview portion show them that you really want this, and that you are knowledgable about the nurse anesthetist role. I was questioned about my experience level and why they should choose me over someone with more experience, I believe that I provided a good response to this question, and really impressed them in the interview. Good luck to you!!!!!

On the same token as not having to complete the entire year of ICU at the time of application, does that also work for not quite completing the BSN as well? I will have my one year of ICU experience quite a while before my BSN is complete. Can you apply before then?

Hi Angela,

I sent you a PM, but your post here answers the ? I asked you in PM land. .. and I don't know how to take back/erase the PM once it has been sent :imbar .

Who knows... we might end up being classmates at TCU one day in the NEAR future
