What would YOU do?

I'm new here, and really frustrated because I just wrote a novel on my little question and it somehow didn't go through. So here we go again...

I am currently on a wait list here in San Diego, CA where all wait lists are estimated to be 2 years long. I had to finish all the pre-reqs before applying and now I'm just sitting and waiting.

My friend told me about a college in Orange County (about an hour north of SD) that does not have a wait-list but rather accepts students according to GPA. I had a meeting with a counselor at this school and he said I was a shoe-in for Spring '07 IF I FINISHED PHYSIO LAB this summer! I was so shocked to find out I lacked a pre-req. It turns out that the school here in SD doesn't require physio lab, therefore I didn't take a lecture/lab class, just Physio lecture.

I looked up physio lab this summer and it is not being offered on its own. It is only being offered as a joint lecture/lab class. The OC school approved an additional physio lecture as long as it has a lab class. So I am currently enrolled in a summer physio lecture/lab class.

Here's where I need help...

Would you take this class if it meant you would sit through something you slaved to get an A for originally? You all know how hard Physio was! I was so thankful when I got it finished! Now take it again?!?!

I could wait until Fall to take the lab class alone (but then I couldn't start until the following Fall 2007!!!) In the meantime...I could be called by the original school (hopefully).

Ok, so I'm not done yet...

Another thing that's making my decision harder is that the original school that I'm waiting for has a big fat warning from the NLNAC. They are scheduled to be evaluated again next semester. Could a school's accredation be pulled b/c of a warning? My fear is I get in and then the accredation is pulled. Argh. The OC school isn't scheduled to be evaluated until 2013...that's encouraging!

Please help me! What would you all do? I'm praying for guidance, its getting close to decision making time.:uhoh3:

Thank you for reading my novel and for any comments!

If the accreditation is in question, I would not attend their nursing school because you never know what will happen. As for the physio lecture, you may just have to do it if that is the only other option you have. Good luck!

I would go for it. You don't have anything to loose, since you would be just waiting for the next 2 years.

Yeah, I'd take it. Keep your options open. If everything else fell through and you didn't take the lab, you'd probably be kicking yourself. I'd veer away from the one with the big fat warning... is there another school in SD you'd consider applying to? Orange County's pretty far (especially with traffic) so the commute would stink, unless you have plans to move up there.

If all you are doing is sitting and waiting, then you'll have all the time in the world to study for the physio class, right? Second time around shouldn't be as hard as the first because you know what to expect. Plan on going to school at the college in Orange County.

Thanks ladies!

I have made a decision...I'm taking the class, and hopefully it will be a review and breeze. :D

As far as the school goes, I think I'm going to go ahead and go to the OC school because a warning makes me nervous. I was up in the air about it all because of this school's reputation being so good here in SD, but the warning is too risky for me.

Thanks again for responding and helping me through this decision. What is two months of my life compared to waiting another year, right? :p

And to respond about moving, we are planning on moving to Oceanside so my husband can commute to his job in SD and I can commute up to OC, its only a 35 minute drive, not too bad. And there's always the Coaster!

Good luck to all!
