I've been stagnant for 5 years as BSN graduate, pursuing to become a nurse i took my NCLEX and passed over 6 months ago, got TX License by endorsement about 4 weeks. Been applying for several hospitals yet no feedback. It's like I'm losing all my clinical experiences and losing my knowledge as RN. i knew that i would be a great nurse :nurse:. it's just that the economy is getting in the way. One thing that been bothering me is that, maybe recruiters doesn't like my resume a "5 year ----gap and with no experience as RN at all". Been thinking and researching " REFRESHER COURSE" seems nice to take? although i know it doesn't help me to get a job asap but i know it will be a good help to restart all the nursing memories that has been fading. Does anyone of you have idea about the program near fort worth?... please Help me find the answer.

good luck, I think that a refresher course is a great idea. Wish I knew one to point you to. Just be honest in any interview that you do get on why there was a big lapse in time between school and starting your career. You do not have to go into too much specifics, but sometimes lessons learned in that gap time can be brought up and are actually positives on why you'll be a good nurse :-)

Don't have any answers ehlay...sorry. Just wanted to extend you my sympathies and support. I'm in a very similar boat to yours...I just graduated w/ my ADN in Dec 09, took the NCLEX and now am ready to work, but for me it's my 5 yr gap in employment b/f nursing school and lack of CNA experience during nursing school that's holding me back.
Sorry I don't have any answers. Just try to stay positive and keep applying and applying and applying. Trite as that advice sounds, that's what I'm doing.
Take care.
