What do you do??

When your schools only let you retake 2 classes??? I have 3 B's and anticiapte a B in BioChem at the least. I can retake only 2 classes.......then its like its totally out of my hands there's nothing more I can do, because I can only raise 2 B's. By the way classes I took in 2000 when I wasnt all hard core trying to get an A. Its so frustrating. We have 8 prereqs Micro, Anat, Physio, Speech, Eng, Eng2, Chem and math. I wondering if there are petitions or anything I can do to change this. My one school said you can petition to take over the 2 allowed over....but its almost never granted. Meanwhile, my life is passing me by semester after semester. I just wanna go to school and finish!

Wow, you would think that they would want the money!

My school just recently got approved to charge extra for a third attempt. There isn't a set number of classes that you can retake.

Is there not any other colleges that you could look into?

If you retake them somewhere else, will they honor the new grades?

Good luck.

Gosh, whatever happened to the days when B's were good grades? I happen to still think they are. All this pressure to get A's is crazy isn't it? If they had more teachers to teach nursing school it wouldn't be this way. I hope you find a way around this crap. Good luck!

Wow I didn't even know schools out there did that. In 99' i retook one single math class 2 more times and another math class 1 time. I don't like math can u tell? :rotfl:

B's are great what are you worrying about? Is your school tough ?

I dont understand the pressure for A's. I know everyone keeps saying that are you talking about PRereqs? Because I received a C in Anat/Phys and Micro and still got into Nursing School. So did a lot of students. Are you talking about Nursing School you have to get A's? If so i better touch up on my study skills, because I HATE studying.... ugh

It all depends on how the application process is set up. For Spring '06 where I applied 100 out of 115 - 4.0 students got accepted out of 274 total applicants.

I've said this on other threads, but the lowest to get accepted for that program for Spring '06 was a 4.0 GPA on the 4 pre-reqs (13 credits) with 6 credits (2 classes) of support classes complete with a GPA of 2.5.

That means their over all 3.37 with 19 credits beat out my 3.8 with 30 credits.

So, again, it's all how the application process is set up....goes by GPA, no wait list.....

yep, Im just talking about nursing prereqs. The deal is you can retake a class as many times as you want if you failed it..but once you get a satisfactory grade (a C) you can only retake it once.

Yes. I talked to Fresno state yesterday where im applying and they told me the Gpa cutoff the previous semester was 3.63 . Thats like 2 B's and all A's.

I wonder if Physical therapy and dental hygiene programs are just as hard to get into. I always thought

i'd use them as backup.

If I had to choose then it would be the Anatomy classes. Our prof said that nursing schools look more on how well you do in anatomy, not so much at Chem. On the other hand, Medical schools look more at the Chem classes.

Good luck and hang in there.

At my school I swear it is a crap shoot so to speak. :crying2: They say its grades and the score from the NET test, but I had only microbiology (:banghead: ) left carried a 4.0 and scored a 92 on the NET and was picked as an alternate. Mean while, there was a gal with a 2.5 GPA, a score of 70 on her NET, and 12 credits accepted! :angryfire Boy I growled and swore for a week at least! Ok just needed to vent.

How is that possible Brat????? Is it lottery? Thoses numbers clearly dont add up...I hope you complained to them......

Nope it isn't a lottery and yes I did complain in a sense, tried very hard not to start ripping as I knew that would just be a strike in the powers that be's eyes. I was told that as I go to a community college, they try to take a mixture of people. I kid not that was the answer, I wonder how much of it isn't really behind the door deals at times as the 2.5 gal was an instructors neice. Now please don't get me wrong, I am not thumping my chest and yelling I deserve this SHE does not, but, when I was told at the start "Selection is a tight area, your grades and scores show your drive" by my counselor, I took it to heart, I guess I missed the part of "but it is still a crap shoot". But then I guess I shouldn't gripe to much, a guy that always was in on the study groups we did had A&P II and Mirco left, a 3.78 GPA and a 90 on the NET and he was rejected, so at least I have my spot in the Fall of 2006.
