I don't know what to do. I work on surg floor and have been for a couple of years now. I'm so burnt out...I did some part time work in the ed thinking I would like it and I did at first until my preceptor came down on me about by "time management" now I don't know if I want to stay or not...I do realize I have alot to learn in the ed, but i'm not sure it is what I thought it was gonna be like....any suggestions?

It can't hurt to apply for jobs while you are still working. If something better comes along than you have just opened new doors for yourself. No matter what job you take, you will learn new things.
Part of the fun of being a nurse, it that you can change positions. (If there are jobs available of course)

I think any experienced nurse would have time management issues while developing a new routine. If you like the ED, then go for it, minus what this person said. That's my two cents.

any new nursing field requires you to learn time management for that field.
time management skills developed for med surg do not work well for ICU...ICU time management skills do not work well for ED...hospital time management does not work well for home care...home care time management is close, but does not work well for hospice...
Apply to where you want...you are able to learn what you need to be successful in any department...I know this because you were able to learn what you needed to get through nursing school and to pass your boards...go for it...
Good luck
