What program should I choose?!

Hello everyone! :)

I'm a pre-nursing student and I will be applying to nursing school in a year. Its been my dream for so long to become a nurse! I'm a hard working student and I have a 3.4 GPA. I'm currently doing prerequisites for a BSN program, but I'm taking all of them at a community college to save money. This is my sophomore year and I've realized that my community college has an amazing ADN program. Its VERY competitive and I really want to get my GPA up (which I think will happen this semester, I have mostly A's). I have heard nothing but good things about it. My boyfriend's mom works as health care administrator and she told me that their best nurses come from the community college that I go to.

I'm so torn!!! I really want to get my BSN right away and be done with nursing school in one shot. But I also want to take advantage of this great program that is so close to my house while saving money at the same time! But my biggest fear is getting my ADN and when I apply for jobs, being overlooked because I don't have my BSN...Does this happen? Do any of you have your ADN and had a hard time finding a job because hospitals wanted you to have your BSN? Help!

    If the RN-to-BSN programs in your area do not require work experience, go for your ADN, enjoy the savings and convenience of living close to school, get your license then apply for your BSN. :)

    If they do require nursing work experience, this may be a stumbling block. I am an ADN RN and, yes, I have been overlooked. Your job prospects will depend on your area, your network and luck. I have no straightforward advice in this case.
