I will begin at TCU this fall and I am curious as to what kind of printer to get. I know I need a color printer, but laser or ink-jet. I heard we will print alot of materials and will go through a ton of ink cartridges with an ink-jet. Does anyone know if it is more economical to spend more on a color laser and possibly not even have to replace the toners.
thanks

After a long conference with a Best Buy sales person, I went with a HP inkjet. C4200 to be exact because it has the copy/scan feature. Toner cartridges are so expensive and refill kits are completely an unknown for me. So I bought a couple extra inkjet cartridges for $10 a piece and another student suggested I try an ink refill kit through an online store or have them refilled at Walgreens. It was also suggested to not let the ink get too low before doing a refill. Get color and high quality as you'll need to see diagrams and pictures. Just my opinion...

I would definetively go with the laser printer and look at which one gives the most copies per printer cartridges at the lowest cost, and one that prints front to back would be an added bonus.

I started CRNA school in January and I tell all my classmates the BEST thing I bought was my laser printer.
I only paid 100 dollars, it's the HP LaserJet P1006.
Yes the toner is 65 dollars, but it prints 1700 pages. It also has a great feature
of printing double sided, which I LOVE!
Good luck in school.....enjoy your life now :wink2:
