Patient in my unit has COPD and 40-year 4 pack a day history. I came across the medical abbreviation, PNA on his chart.
Can someone please explain what PNA stands for?

In my clinical experience this is shorthand for pneumonia, (PNeumoniA).

How 'bout pneumonia? That's the only time I've seen it.

The only PNA I've come across was perinephric abscess, but of course that seems unlikely in this context as we're talking about the lungs given the patient description. Were there other symptoms like UTI? Or was this Dx for the lungs?

I found that PNA stands for polynitroxyl-albumin and it did seem to have something to do with the lungs. However, I didn't read too in depth on it. But it might be worth looking into.
