What to do next?

I had my first interview a week ago today and I will say the wait is killing me. I really want this position and even though it was my first interview, I felt like I really connected with the manager and I thought overall that the interview was successful and that I made a strong impression. I also know that there were a good number of people being interviewed (probably over 10) but I noticed there was more than one position open for the unit. The manager said that they would probably have a decision by the end of the week to early next week. I know i'm probably being really impatient...I just don't know how to feel about my chances. I did send a thank you note right after the interview. I guess I'll plan to follow up on Friday this week if I don't hear anything. There is another position open at the same hospital that is closely related to the position I applied for and I wasn't sure if I should go ahead and apply for it or not...or apply to the same position again that is available. Any suggestions? Anyone have any experience with how long it takes HR to call with job offers? All information would be helpful...I'm a May new grad fighting with the economy...at this point any words of encouragement are nice too....starting to feel defeated...this could easily be a looong road ahead.

Well congrats on the interview! You are already way ahead some of us out here! :) Anyways, I dont think I would apply for the same position, if you have already applied for it. As for the other position...GO FOR IT! They have not officially offered you a position yet, so therefore you are still a "free agent" as I like to call it LoL...I would also call and check and see if the positions have been filled or if they are still in the decision process, that way you dont go coo coo and for nothing if they are already filled! Good Luck and i hope you receive an offer!

Thanks for your reply! I followed up today for my own sanity with the manager and found out they chose me for the job!! Human resources called a few hours later with the official offer :yelclap: Still can't believe it, I'm soooo excited!

Congratulations!! How exciting! You were going to drive yourself nutz for no reason :) Happy for ya!
