What am I doing wrong?

I graduated from an accelerated BSN program in May 2013. I failed nclex-rn 3 times between June and December 2013. I have since taken the Kaplan course and received 60% in the Qbank, 62% Diagnostic, 60% on both Question trainers 6 and 7, and 62% on Readiness exam. I thought I was ready. I took the nclex again last week and failed again. The past 2 times I've gotten 265 questions. I have no clue what to do next. I just bought the new Saunders book with all the online questions. I was studying about 2 hours a day with Kaplan. Is that not enough? I was doing 100 questions a day for about 2 months. I feel totally blind-sided. Kaplan said I need above 60% and that's what I was doing. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I can do differently?

Did you get your CPR from BON and see what was your below passing? I just took mine last Monday and I found out today that I failed. My first 2 exams I failed with 75 and 77 questions. This time I failed with 265 and I used both Kaplan and Hurst. I think I was almost there but 265 was too long and I got tired, I didn't concentrate on my last 10-20 questions! I will start studying again and will take it again after 45 days or until my BON will allow me to

Every category just says "Near passing"...the 3 and 4th times I took the exam I took 265 and both times every category says i'm "Near Passing". I guess I'll just start doing questions and read Saunders for a content review.

How are you with your content?

How are you with your content?

I think that may be the problem. I've been practicing how to address the nclex style question that I haven't been working on content as much. There's always lots of drugs that I don't know. I'm really good in some areas, but other areas are bringing me down I think. That's why I just bought the Saunders book. I hear the content is really good. Do u have any other suggestions for reviewing content?

I would highly suggest you do Saunders (which you already bought!!!!). One of the best books for content review!!!! I swear by that book!!!!!! It is amazing! Yes, it has a lot of content review, but every bit of it is needed in order to pass that exam!!! It's a lengthy book, but if you want to pass the NCLEX-RN, you must know the content. Second, if you are enrolled in a program such as kaplan-review each question-right or wrong!!! Even if you know the question 100%-REVIEW IT!!! And if you got it wrong-REVIEW IT 5X AND READ THE CONTENT 5X! Make sure you understand every detail about it! It will help. I noticed on the exam the questions were very, very, very similar to kaplan!!! Kaplan also has a content review book, but it's about 600 pages-much less in length. It took me about 10-15 days to get through that book. Saunders-took me about 1 month!! And I didn't just sit there and read the book; I also did questions in between. With the Saunders questions- there are like over 5000 questions---and there is no way in he%% I would do all of those questions---some of them are very easy. What I did was write down what my weakest area(s) was- and I would review that section--for me it was the cardio, endo, and maternal. I would recommend you do kaplan and do it a couple of times. I did the question bank 3 times. Another book which helped me a LOT- NCLEX-RN ALTERNATE FORMAT QUESTIONS BY LIPPINCOTT'S-this book is absolute magic for people who are weak in answering SATA questions. Know you SATAs. I dedicated about 3 hours a day to studying. Before the exam; I took off about 2 weeks from work and went to the library everyday and studied for about 6 hours.

Thank you so much! I haven't booked the test again, yet, but I hope to take it again in 2 months, which I think is enough time to get through Saunders since I don't work. I'll definitely get that alternate format questions book. I am horrible with SATA and only get about 25% of those questions correct. I just took the Saunders Assessment exam, 75 questions just to see where weaknesses are. I got a 72%, which I didn't think was horrible, but I was really weak with Pharmacology and Health Promotion and Maintenance. Thanks so much for replying. Starting to get my confidence back and start studying on Monday.....again.
